Climate Control Storage Unit FAQs
What is a climate control storage unit?
Climate-controlled units are kept within a consistent temperature range (typically between 64°F and 74°F) year-round. This prevents extreme fluctuations in temperatures that cause materials to expand, contract, mold, mildew, or warp.
What can I store in a climate control unit?
Any items that are sensitive to extreme temperatures, such as TVs, cameras, and other electronic devices, photographs, vinyl records, clothes, mattresses, linens, etc.
Is drive-up access available for all climate control units?
Most of our climate control units are typically housed within a finished, insulated building with interior hallway access. This provides an extra layer of protection against dust, pests, and debris, and it makes your move much more comfortable regardless of the weather outside. However, a few locations feature drive-up access, allowing you to park your vehicle directly in front of the door for easy loading and unloading. Please contact your local AA Self Storage for more information.
Is climate-controlled storage more expensive?
Since these units require more sophisticated infrastructure and energy to maintain, they do have a slightly higher price than standard, non-climate units. However, many customers find the cost is a small price to pay compared to the cost of replacing high-value electronics or sentimental family heirlooms.
